With approximately 140 temples throughout the world, including in most major cities, temples have now become a symbol of the ever-growing Mormon religion. While many people are familiar with the appearance of Mormon temples, most are unfamiliar with Mormon beliefs surrounding them and the Mormon temple ceremonies that take place within.
Because of this unfamiliarity, there are many rumors or inaccuracies about Mormon temples. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and one who has participated in the temple ordinances, I wanted to make a simple website answering some of the more common questions and explaining our basic doctrines about temples.
Find information about the key Mormon ceremonies or ordinances that take place at temples:
Also find answers to some of the more common questions about Mormon temples:
- What clothing is worn inside temples?
- What is the best Mormon temple film?
- What are Mormon temple garments?
- What is it like inside a Mormon temple?
- What is a temple recommend?
Also, get a Mormon’s perspective on why we don’t speak much about the specifics of temple ceremonies (sometimes viewed as being “secretive”).
Finally, below is a basic introductory video about Mormon temples made by another member of the Mormon Church. It may help give context to some of the other information on this website and is worth watching.
If you have questions or comments about the material on this website, or in general about Mormon temples or Mormon temple ceremonies, I hope you will send me a message.
